Rules of the Two-Bits Rally
All riders are obligated to provide emergency assistance to anyone in need of it. Failure to provide such emergency assistance will result in immediate disqualification. You may be allowed extra time beyond the published checkpoint and finish closing times for time spent providing assistance to others. This additional time will be given even if the person you assist is not a participant in this rally. Time spent assisting others must be documented in some way to receive time credit. Every emergency situation is different, but helping someone find their way because they are lost is probably not an emergency situation. Helping someone who has run out of gas is also generally a non-emergency situation, unless that person is stranded in the path of disaster. When a true emergency does arise, your thoughts should not be about the time you are losing anyway. Remember, this is just a two-bit rally.
Helmet, eye protection, full-fingered gloves, over-ankle boots, and long pants must be worn at all times while participating in the Two-Bits Rally. Colorado has no helmet law, but we do.
Participants are expected to observe general rules of the road at all times. You will be doing most of your riding within 150 miles of Denver with its Saturday traffic. Reckless endangerment of yourself or others, or other acts which may tarnish the good name of motorcycling (such as stupid passes or being a jerk) will result in disqualification and public ridicule.
Team riding will not be allowed. You may ride together with anyone, but all riders must visit the bonuses and collect all answers or receipts on their own. If anyone is caught in the act of supplying bonus information to others, they will be held up for public ridicule, called a two-bit rider, and will be subject to any number of other nasty consequences.
You will be required to supply three log entries at all bonus locations: 1) Answer, receipt, or item required, 2) time of day, and 3) odometer reading. Illegible or missing information will result in zero points for that bonus. Many multi-hour rallies require Polaroid photographs or GPS coordinates at bonus locations. Neither will be required during this rally.
Manage your fuel carefully. This shouldn't be a problem on this short rally (but could be on the Utah 1088 when riding though the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night), but don't attempt a bonus if you aren't certain that you have enough fuel to make the next gas station along your route.
Under no circumstances should you continue to ride if you are fatigued or encounter other physical or mechanical problems that would prevent you from riding your motorcycle safely.
If you find you will not be able to return to the start/finish, or will be arriving more than one hour late, contact the rallymaster at a phone number that will be supplied in your bonus sheets at the rally.
Failure to comply with these rules, or other unsportsmanlike behavior will result in your disqualification.
The decision of the rallymaster is always final. I have endeavored to make the bonus sheet information free of errors,
however, it doesn't matter if it's right or wrong, it's always final. (The bonus sheet will be passed out at the riders'
meeting on the day of the rally.)
The final rule: You must enjoy yourself on this two-bit rally.
